Srinagar is one of those places which have a lot being written about it, mostly in the form of odes. One might think that this persistent obsession of both local and foreign tourists might be just a phase. However, if time is witness of anything then it is of the fact that the reign of this very city in Indian tourism is here to stay and may not fade away any time soon, especially with the cheap domestic flight that make this place easily accessible to one and all.

The local gardens are mostly influenced by the Mughal era in terms of layout and basic architecture. One of the most famous gardens that receive numerous tourists throughout the year is the Shalimar Bagh. Dedicated to his beloved wife Noor Jahaan, the Mughal ruler Jahangir built this garden in the sixteenth century. Currently a public park open to all, it is one of the best examples of Mughal horticulture which was at its peak during the time of its construction.  The easy to afford prices of the lowest domestic flight will make it way easier for you to fulfil your dream of enjoying the finest of the Mughal era with family and friends.

The basic design of this garden has been derived from the Persian gardens and improvised to suit the hilly terrains on which it had to be constructed. The prime axis of this garden is Shah Nahar, the lake from which the water is being pumped into the water fountain which lies in the middle of this garden. It is connected with the Dal Lake via a canal which is lined with rice and willow fringes. Chinar trees and its crimson leaves will line the pavement for you when you finally decide to pay a visit to this place through domestic flights.
